Death of a Party

We are witnessing the final nail the Conservative Movement along with the Republican Majority in both houses and the White House. Just when we had Liberalism in the tarpits of history the gods of Conservatism decided a fight for the SC was more important than winning. Many feel that this war is going to make the Party stronger but they are fooling themselves and will end it with many years back in the political wilderness. We are a fractured party and Miers is only the final nuclear explosion that has been brewing for years as the two main factions have been battling for control. The two wings that has been able to coexist behind President Bush are the Christians and the Fiscal Secularists. It really doesn’t matter which army wins this war, the loser will stay home next election.

The views of these two factions are as different as the east is from the west. The Secularists believe that you can solve America’s problems with a libertarian gummit and sealing the borders. The Christians believe that gummit is a lost cause and all morality comes from God and specifically from Jesus Christ. We see our leaders as being sent by God and he is in control through them. We see GW as a servant leader who was sent by God and doing God’s will. Secularist laugh at these thoughts and have an arm lengths view of God. If this was a discussion of ideals this would be a healthy family feud, rather it has become the most vulgar hate-fest we have ever witnessed. This is far worse than the hatred between Conservatives and Liberals since it is destroying our own.

This fracture really began during Terri Schievo’s death. The Christians are basically a one issue constituency and that is Life. We saw the Terri case as a morality issue that an atheistic Court was allowing the death of the most helpless among us. To us it was about what is the definition of Life. The Secularists looked at it as a purely legal case that you had to obey the letter of the law, period. They were legally right and morally wrong. Ironically these are basically the same people on the Anti-Miers side of this issue and we are on the Pro-Miers. The vitriol on both sides was nearly as ugly as this war since neither side respects the other’s point of view.

We Fundamentalist Christians have always been similar to the Blacks on the Dem Plantation. The Party has always been happy to take our money but would often turn their backs or spit in our faces when it came to governing. All the leaders would make gestures to Christians and most attended Church, they just had to make it a point of not being "too" Christian. The same with most of our self-appointed Conservative gods. Sure it’s ok to be a Christian just don’t get carried away with it.

George W Bush changed all of that. He has made great strides to make this a more Christian Country than any President before him, including Reagan. His passing of the Partial Birth Abortion ban and standing for the Marriage Amendment has made him a hero among Christians. He is unapologetic about his love of the Lord and speaks clearly of his relationship. This drives the Left nuts and to a large part, the Secular Right.

This is the major reason the Christians are supporting Miers. We see her as putting one of our own on the most powerful Court in the land. We are suspicious of Catholics as not being Fundamentalist Christians since so many of them are Kennedy Catholics. The are drive through Catholics that are Christians for an hour a week but when it comes to moral issues they are able to bend in the wind. We finally have someone who’s faith is deep who knows the difference between moral and immoral. We have faith in her faith to make the right decisions. You cannot document Faith which is why the Secularists are winning at destroying this nominee and bringing down this Presidency. Trust and Faith are not in their vocabularies.

Secularists do not understand faith and can only look at Miers in a legal and analytical view. For this crime she is being Burned at the Stake as a heretic. The same people that we have supported and turned the other way when we witnessed their own indiscretions are trying to destroy our Sister in Christ. Just as President Bush cannot relate his faith in God, he cannot prove his faith in Harriet. Just as we couldn’t legally stop the killing of Terri Schievo, we cannot legally stop the destruction of Harriet Miers.

This will be the end of the Conservative Movement. Either the Christians are going to return to second class citizens or the Secularist will. This mob mentality has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that we cannot exist in the same Party. There are many pundits who can never be trusted by us again after starting this nuclear storm. Every time we are selected for a position of power we are not only attacked by the Libs, but more often than not; we are viciously attacked by our own. Ashcroft, Robertson, Dobson, Schievo and now Harriet, we get attacked by both secular extremes.

President George W Bush was the last great leader to have millions of libertarian Republicans to rally around him. God only sends leaders like him every few decades and there are none on the horizon. After this war is over we will see huge losses in the midterm and very likely HilaryCare in 2008. How anyone can see anything different really doesn’t understand how deep seated this war for control has become. The Rats may not have a message and are out of touch with America, but they are united in their hatred of George Bush and will do whatever it takes to win. The Self Appointed Conservative gods who are destroying our Movement over a Court pick, can save their arguments and Google searches for her picks.
